Vicenza and other cities in the Veneto
With the Italian Alps to its North, the Berici Hills to its south, and the once imperial city of Venice 40 miles to its east, the city of Vicenza, Italy (city site link), was my home from 1972-1975, where my father was stationed as a US Army officer at what was then called SETAF (Southern European Task Force). The memories of this wonderful city—the city of Andrea Palladio and Giambattista Tiepolo—have never left me. As something of a tribute to Vicenza (a quiet secret among travelers), I have this page devoted to it, and other pages with high-quality pictures, and links.
Here are some pictures that were sent to me in 2001 when I asked the webmaster of the city of Vicenza whether there were some pictures available for public use on websites. The webmaster never answered, but the Veneto Agency for Tourism did, but sending me a CD chock full of high-res pictures of magnificent places around the Veneto—many of which I visited as a young teenager—free for use and sharing. Lucky me, and lucky you—beato me, e anche te!
