« The Marquette Debacle (Part 1 of 3): Bertrand Russell No Longer Loved His Wife | Main | John McWhorter on Harry Reid »

Thanks, Newsweek, I was worried about that.

The increased scrutiny directed towards Church officials and towards the Pope in particular, when sponsored by the traditional media, seems to result in the conclusion that the Catholic clergy is all given over to child abuse. One could go further with such investigation and ask, “are all Catholics child abusers?” For a while there, it looked like Newsweek had you covered.

But despite the gruesome suspicion that would lay at the core of an article linked-to by the title above, the real topic considered in the Newsweek article had to do with Catholic clergy, who are not more likely to commit child abuse than are the clergy and members of other religions, the author asserts (link). Phew.

Newsweek’s website now has a more precise, if still-wearying, hyperlink.
