The Beloit College "Mindset List"

Professors are reminded daily about their advancing age, when they make some reference to pop culture that seems obvious to them, but turns out to be ancient history to their students. So every year at this time I get the Beloit College “Mindset List,” published by Beloit College here in Wisconsin. The List tells me about the realities of the incoming class of freshman for that year—and this year I’d better know those realities, because I’ll be teaching five sections of our Department’s “Introduction to Theology” course!

You can subscribe to the List, and it will be e-mailed to you just before the beginning of term. Time to retool my pop culture references—and start listening to Pearl Jam, since the band has always existed for this year’s incoming class!
